Avoid Excess Weight Gain Over the Holidays
The majority of people find themselves eating more calories during the holiday season. This is generally because the holidays become extremely hectic, and most people find little time to structure meals and consistently exercise. When a person eats on the go and exercises less, we can almost assuredly expect an increase in body weight.
To avoid holiday weight gain, follow these simple tips:
1. Don't deprive yourself. Allow yourself to enjoy the festivities and the delicious foods. Do so in a controlled manor by limiting servings to one and reducing portion sizes.
2. Don't stuff yourself. Only eat until you are no longer hungry. Avoid eating until you need to undo the button on your pants.
3. Eat a small meal several hours before the party. This will prevent you from being too hungry when faced with calorie rich foods. When you are not starving, you can think
with your brain, and not with your stomach.
4. Eat slowly. It takes our body about 20 minutes to
realize that we are full. Also, the slower you eat, the
less food you'll eat as opposed to eating fast in the same
amount of time.
Many of our patients and customers successfully use meal replacement shakes and/or protein bars to keep calories low during the day, when they know they will be attending holiday parties later that evening.
Good Luck
